Critiques
This photograph bursts with that dreamy surreal feeling only found in places and moments like this. It's a rare gem.
The color is wonderful and white balance is perfection. It's warm and inviting and real. Very believable color, which I know can be a bit of a trick when you're shooting in a high-contrast situation like this. I'm glad to see you resisted the temptation to crank the levels in an attempt to draw better definition out of the light-beam. When it's the focus of a photo some people feel the need to make it the only visible part of the photo.
Composition is really my only quibble. It seems as though the horizon is slightly less than level and it causes the image to feel heavy on the right side, which is odd and out of place because that's where you're focusing most of your negative space. Mind your level.
Overall, a very bold photograph that nearly tells a story to us all in a way that's both magical and unfulfilling. It leaves me wanting more.
